Mountain Quail The Mountain Quail are found in the western United States and are a single-spiked plume that comes off the top of their head and black and white barred feathers on their sides. They also have a brown face, brown back and gray breast. When full grown, the Mountain quail is around a foot in length and 10 oz in weight. These birds typically live at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet. The higher altitudes have more trees and shrubs than when they live at lower altitudes. They typically feed on berries, fruits, grasses and insects and are often found by streams or pools of water. Mountain quail are one of the hardest birds to hunt because of their inhospitable and sometimes impossible-to-hunt terrain. Even though it is very hard to hunt the, they can be spooked very easily. |
